Overview
Recommendations tell you what to improve. Solutions give you the actual content and code to make it happen. Cited bridges the gap between insight and implementation by generating ready-to-use artifacts directly from your priority actions. This guide explains how solutions work, what types of artifacts are available, and how to move from generation to deployment.
What Are Solutions?
A solution is a package of implementation-ready content generated from a specific recommendation or priority action. Rather than handing you a suggestion and leaving the execution to guesswork, Cited produces concrete deliverables -- the actual HTML, structured data, or content drafts you need to improve your AI visibility.
Each solution is tied to a specific recommendation, so you always have full context on why the artifact was created and what problem it addresses.
Types of Artifacts
Solutions can include several types of artifacts depending on the recommendation they address.
HTML Templates
Pre-built HTML snippets or page section templates designed to improve your content structure for AI readability. These might include FAQ sections, comparison tables, feature lists, or "about" blocks formatted in ways that AI engines can easily parse and cite.
JSON-LD Schema
Structured data markup in JSON-LD format, ready to paste into your website's head section or deploy through a tag manager. Cited generates schema types relevant to your business -- Organization, Product, Service, FAQ, HowTo, and others -- with your actual business data pre-filled.
Content Drafts
Written content such as blog post drafts, landing page copy, or FAQ answers designed to fill gaps identified in your audits. These drafts are written to be AI-citable: clearly structured, factually grounded, and optimized for the types of queries where your business needs more visibility.
Generating a Solution
To generate a solution, navigate to your recommendations and find a priority action you want to address. Click Generate Solution on that action. Cited will analyze the recommendation context, your business profile, and your website data to produce the most relevant artifacts.
The generation process typically takes a minute or two. Once complete, your solution appears with all artifacts ready for review.
Workflow Statuses
Each solution moves through a clear lifecycle so you can track progress:
- Pending -- The solution has been requested but generation has not started yet.
- Generating -- Cited is actively creating the artifacts. This usually takes one to two minutes.
- Ready -- Artifacts have been generated and are available for review, editing, and download.
- Deployed -- You have marked the solution as deployed, indicating the artifacts have been implemented on your website.
- Verified -- After deploying, you can run a follow-up audit to verify that the changes improved your visibility. Once confirmed, the solution moves to verified status.
This workflow helps you and your team track which recommendations have been actioned and which are still outstanding.
Downloading and Implementing Artifacts
Once a solution is in Ready status, you can download individual artifacts or the complete solution package. Artifacts are provided in their native formats -- HTML files, JSON-LD snippets, or markdown content -- so they can be dropped directly into your website or CMS.
For schema markup, copy the JSON-LD block and add it to the relevant page's <head> section. For HTML templates, integrate the snippet into your page layout. For content drafts, review and customize the copy before publishing.
After implementing artifacts on your site, mark the solution as Deployed in Cited to keep your workflow organized.
Chat Interface for Refining Solutions
Not every generated artifact will be perfect on the first pass. Cited provides a chat interface on each solution where you can request adjustments, ask questions, or refine the output.
For example, you might ask Cited to:
- Adjust the tone of a content draft to better match your brand voice.
- Add additional properties to a schema markup block.
- Restructure an HTML template for a different page layout.
- Expand a brief FAQ into a more comprehensive version.
The chat interface maintains context about your business, the original recommendation, and the current artifacts, so refinements are informed and relevant. This iterative process lets you get exactly what you need without starting over.
