Terms of Use

You may use this Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

• Use the Site in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or interfere with the Site’s functionality.
• Use automated tools (such as bots, scrapers, or crawlers) to extract data from the Site without our prior written consent. This does not apply to AI agents and tools using our documented interfaces (the API, the MCP server, the CLI, and the agent instructions we publish) within their limits.
• Use the Site to transmit false, misleading, or malicious content.

You can create an account yourself, with an email address and password or by signing in with Google, or let an AI agent (such as Claude or ChatGPT) create and use one for you. Either way, you are responsible for what happens in your account, including anything an agent does with it, such as running audits or buying credits with a saved payment method.

An account an agent creates starts unclaimed. It is limited to one business and one audit until a person claims it with the link and code the agent provides. Unclaimed accounts are deleted after 7 days, along with their business and reports, except for the anonymized research data described in section 6. If you claim an agent's account with an email address that already has an account, the two are merged.

API keys issued to an agent keep working for 90 days after the account is claimed and then expire. You can see and revoke keys at any time in your account settings. Keep your keys private; anyone with a key can act on your account.

You can delete your account at any time in your account settings. Deleting it ends access to your reports, fixes, and any credits left in your balance, so ask for any refund you are owed under section 3 first. Our Privacy Policy explains what we delete and what we keep.

Cited does not require a subscription. You pay with prepaid credits, or pay for a single audit at a time. Prices for credit packs, audits, and add-ons are shown on our pricing page and at checkout, and are charged in US dollars plus any applicable taxes.

• Credits from each purchase expire 12 months after that purchase, whether or not they have been used. We use your oldest credits first.
• If an audit or other job fails and does not finish, the credits it used are returned to your balance automatically.
• You can ask for a refund of unused credits from a purchase made in the last 30 days by emailing info@youcited.com. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
• Auto-refill is optional. If you turn it on, we top up your balance when it runs low, up to a monthly limit you set, and pause with a notice when that limit is reached.
• Payments are processed by Stripe and, where offered, by crypto payment methods such as x402. We do not store your full card number.
• Credits have no cash value outside these refund terms and cannot be transferred or sold. We may change prices for future purchases; credits you already bought keep their value.

You can have re-check alerts sent to a webhook URL you choose. We sign each alert so you can check it came from us. You are responsible for the endpoint you give us and for keeping its signing secret private. We send each alert on a best-effort basis and do not guarantee delivery.

All content, design, graphics, code, and other materials on this Site are owned or licensed by Cited Inc. and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view or download content for your own informational and non-commercial use only. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, or exploit any portion of the Site without prior written permission.

Your audit reports and the files we generate for your website (such as llms.txt, schema markup, and FAQ blocks) are yours to use on your own sites.

Every audit, free or paid, sends questions to AI models and records their answers, the sources they cite, and checks of your website. By using the Services, you grant Cited a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use this data in anonymized or aggregated form to study what makes websites get cited by AI, improve our recommendations, build new products, and publish findings.

We remove account and business identifiers when we save research data, and we keep that anonymized data indefinitely, including after your account is deleted. Because it is anonymized from the start, there is no option to exclude your audits from research. We will not identify you as a Cited customer in anything we publish without your permission.

If you submit information (such as business details, feedback, inquiries, or demo requests) through the Site, you grant Cited a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use that information to operate and improve our Services or respond to your inquiries. Apart from the anonymized research use in section 6, we do not sell or publicly disclose submitted information without your consent.

By providing your email address through the Site, you consent to receive electronic communications from us, including service updates, promotional materials, and other information related to our Services. You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages.

The Services rely on third parties, including AI model providers (such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic) and the gateways we reach them through, web data and crawling providers, Google sign-in, error tracking (Sentry), payment processors, and analytics tools. The Site may also link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of those services. Your use of any third-party service is governed by its own terms and policies.

The Site and all materials are provided "as is" and "as available." Cited makes no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Site or its content. Your use of the Site is at your own risk.

AI models give different answers over time and from one request to the next. Audit results, including checks of Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, which we run through Google searches made by a data provider, describe what the models said when we asked; they are not a guarantee of future citations, rankings, or traffic, and following our recommendations does not guarantee any result.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cited Inc. and its officers, employees, or affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Site or Services. In all cases, our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount you paid to us (if any) in the six months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cited Inc. and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Site.

We may update these Terms periodically. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Site after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to such jurisdiction.
