What you get
After a paid audit with recommendations on, Cited reads every answer, every "cited instead" source and your site check, and writes the changes most likely to get you cited. They're about your own site: content to add or improve, and technical fixes.
Open them from the audit report or from Recommendations in the sidebar.
How they're organised
- Top priorities: the gaps that cost you the most, such as questions where every model cites someone else, or a robots.txt rule that blocks AI search bots. Start here.
- Strengthen your position: questions where you already show up and could show up more.
If nothing is urgent, you'll see "Nothing urgent to fix" and the wins you already have.
Each recommendation explains why it matters, which questions it affects, and which sites AI cites for those questions today.
Proven vs best practice
Every recommendation carries a label:
- Proven: Cited's own citation research, from the answers we collect across all audits, shows that this kind of change wins AI citations. A strength word (for example "Proven (strong)") says how strong the evidence is.
- Best practice: a widely accepted GEO practice that we can't yet back with our own data.
Do the proven ones first when you have to choose.
Done or dismissed
Mark each recommendation done once you've made the change, or dismiss it if it doesn't apply to you. Done items move out of the way, and the next audit checks whether they made a difference.
Getting the fix
Click a recommendation to generate its fix: the files and a short install guide. Or use Generate all fixes to make one for every open recommendation at once. See Fixes.
Running them again
After you edit questions or ship fixes, you can run recommendations again for the same audit. The price shows first. For the most useful update, run a new audit instead: the new recommendations then reflect what AI says now.
What recommendations won't do
- They don't suggest outreach campaigns or ads.
- They don't write your blog posts or marketing copy. Where a page is missing, the fix gives you a page outline to write from.
